Premium Hull Protection Equals Better Performance
The right hull coating helps protect your Sea Ray's fuel efficiency, your budget and the environment.
It’s estimated that antifouling coatings provide approximately $30 billion in fuel savings per year. By selecting a bottom paint that offers optimal results, you achieve three key things:
- Improved speed and/or maintained speed at less power
- Reduction in fuel emissions and their impact on the environment
- Performance longevity
That’s why the experts at Interlux recommend you consider the AHR (Average Hull Roughness) when assessing bottom paints and their attributes. An increase in underwater hull roughness will increase the frictional resistance (or drag). With additional drag you will need additional power—and more fuel—to maintain speed.
A traditional hard or ablative paint will increase in surface roughness over time, approximately 1.5 to 2 mils per year, which can lead to fuel penalties of 5 to 10 percent. By selecting superior products such as Interlux coatings with Micron Technology, the increase in roughness will be significantly less. For example, Micron® 66® — a true, Self-Polishing Copolymer (SPC) — has a remarkable polishing and smoothing action. Intended only for saltwater use, Micron 66 is preferred by many of the world’s greatest yachts and superyachts.
A smooth, clean bottom paint system equals great boating efficiencies and reduced impact on the environment. Considering your Sea Ray’s “bottom” line not only benefits yours, but also helps the planet!
